Karate Classes for Beginners
Beginner Youth (ages 5-12)
Mondays 5:30 pm, Wednesdays 5:30 pm, Saturdays 10:15 am
A full curriculum of karate basics, forms (choreographed self-defense routines, and fighting strategies. Instructors discuss philosophies of karate and character education as they apply to maturing teens and youth. Fast learners and highly motivated youth love this class.
Karate Intro for Kids, for very young beginners ages 5-7
Wednesdays 4:45 PM and Saturdays 9:30 AM
This program will teach karate along with coordination and speed techniques for a rapid start into karate.

Think Field Day on Overdrive! Youth and adults use wall sits, planks, push-ups, weighted balls, bands, hurdles, ladders, and cones to develop faster footwork, core strength, and explosive power. It's fun, it's fast-paced, it's effective for many sports. We have tennis players, football players, and runners blended into our karate conditioning class. Dress for indoor gym work; no karate gi's required.
Beginner Teens (ages 13-18)
Mondays 5:30 pm, Tuesdays, 5:30 pm, Wednesdays, 6:30 pm, Thursdays 5:30 pm, Fridays 5:30 pm
Older students of different ranks train together and grow with one another’s experiences. Instruction is given in Japanese when possible. We call it “Immersion Karate” ...if you’re trying to learn French, wouldn’t you want to be totally immersed with proficient French speakers rather than learn to speak with other beginners alone? The same applies in karate.
Conditioning for Karate
Fridays 4:45 pm for ages 12 and under, 5:30 pm for ages 13 and older.

Traditional Weapons Class
Traditional Japanese weapons include Bo staff, Eiku (oar), Sai, Tonfa, Kama, Nunchaku, for green belts and above.
Sunday, 3:00-4:00 PM.
Sensei Dave Henshall will focus on Eiku (oar), the history of how the oar was used, made, and wielded as a weapon. Sensei Henshall, 4th dan ShitSo-Ryu has studied traditional weapons with Sensei Dometrich for more than 25 years.

Karate classes specifically designed for Green, Brown, and Black Belts are offered 4 times a week. If you have previous experience and want to observe or join these higher rank classes, please call about the schedule or drop in to watch. Our dojo is always open to guests.
Examinations are given by the instructors to students after training 24 sessions. This is usually 12 weeks (three months) for a student who attends classes twice a week. We celebrate each student’s progress as a group, and tests are open to family, friends, and other spectators. The next Belt Promotion Test is on March 17, 2018 at 11 AM.
